1. Book Three Melody: 300 new words
Notes: I also edited chapter twenty-two yesterday.

A serious landmark has been passed today on the way to telling this story, one I have thought about for more than a decade. So today was a bit momentous for me. You think about one particular, very important moment, and you hold it in your mind, in your soul, and you ruminate on it daily or almost daily; you get every nuance of it, every angle, every possible word; you edit the moment and wonder how it'll read once you write it; and you wait. And wait. And wait.

There are several more such landmarks coming in the writing of Book Three; and I have passed several on the way here.

I can't wait for you to read them.

Transcribing Montaigne:

----------------

Thought of the Day: Given the nature of fame today--its transitoriness, its celebration far too many times of the mediocre, its shallowness and vapidness, its intrusiveness and the massive social pressures that come with it--I can say, confidently, that I'm happier--likely much happier--obscure as I am than I would be should such a fate befall me.

That's not a no-brainer. This has been a tough, tough haul, one that I'll likely continue the rest of my life. There have been days of great misery and depression, ones I wouldn't wish on my worst enemies. It's very difficult writing something you love to the very marrow in your bones but know no one, or almost no one, is going to bother ever reading. As a daily discipline, it has few if any equals.
