My Mistress of Metal | A Poem by KJH Cardinalis

Cold steel

But her heart is on fire

Her breath is hot on my hands,
Her pulse racing through my fingertips,
As she thrusts beneath me;

My horseless chariot,
My mechanical mare.

She shatters the sunset
She shatters the night
She sieves the wind through her soul,

She pulls the darkness through her hooves.

I'm breaking the distance
As the earth curves beneath us,
The brontide riding up through my hips

Cold steel
My mistress of metal

But my heart is on fire
As we burn up the night.
