Furnace | A Poem by KJH Cardinalis

 I am a raging inferno
A nuclear furnace with no path for decay,

A crashing tidal maelstrom

Of flesh and frothing chemicals

And scarlet pain contained.

The multiverse collides

Underneath my skin,
Lust and blood foaming over,
Subjecting this fragile shell
To explosions that rock the seas

In every broken breath.

I contain the mayhem;
I am the spectrum,

Burning against the void.

Energy is eternal delight,
But looking at me

No one would ever know.

I am bounded by my weakness;

The cage of reason must go.

Oh how easy it was
In that other life

When I had the cold bright steel of your will

A luminous golden force

To break my skin

And draw the choir from my lips

To scream your eternal song

And bleed me out.
