Passing the Time | Quote by Michel Eyquem de Montaigne

The ordinary phrase "pastime" and "passing the time" represents the practice of those wise folks who think they cannot make better use of their life than to let it flow away and to escape from it, to pass it away, and to dodge it, and, as far  as in them lies, ignore it and run away from it as something tiresome and contemptible. But I know it to be otherwise and find it both agreeable and worthy to be prized, even in its last decline in which I now enjoy it; and Nature has placed it in our hands fitted out with such favourable conditions that we have only ourselves to blame if it burdens us and if it escapes from us unprofitably.
~Michel Eyquem de Montaigne (1533 - 1592)
