Kye's Music & Lyrics: "Home" by The Cruxshadows (Astromythology 2017)

The Cruxshadows

~~*~~

I've been here too many times before.
I was broken then,
but somehow made it back for more.
And now I've lost so much this time,
My life's a world away,
And there's nowhere to go back to,
Drifting in outer space.

I wanna go home,
Bring me back home,
Bring me back...
I wanna go home,
To the place I used to live.

I wanna go home,
Bring me back home,
Bring me back...
I wanna go home,
But there's nobody there anymore.

And my broken heart each moment breaks again,
But it's harder to manage, 'cause I lost my closest friend.
And I would hate you, I would hate you,
But I love you even so...
It all becomes an empty space
Where these tears are cried alone...

I wanna go home,
Bring me back home,
Bring me back...
I wanna go home,
To the place I used to live.

I wanna go home,
Bring me back home,
Bring me back...
I wanna go home,
But there's nobody there anymore.

You don't see me when you look at me,
I'm just someone you knew.
You don't see me when you look at me,
The way that I see you.
The way that I see you.

I wanna go home,
Bring me back home,
Bring me back...
I wanna go home,
To the place I used to live.

I wanna go home,
Bring me back home,
Bring me back...
I wanna go home,
But there's nobody there anymore.

I wanna go home,
Bring me back home,
Bring me back...
I wanna go home,
To the place I used to live.

I wanna go home,
Bring me back home,
Bring me back...
I wanna go home,
But there's nobody there anymore.

I've seen that look before,
You don't see me anymore.
I've seen that look before,
You closed and locked the door.

I have no idea if Rogue is singing about being cut off
from an earthly person/love, or a divine one—
or some combination of the two.
But the video is beautiful,
and the song just kills me. In it I hear the anguish
of someone whose path—to me—feels similar to my own.

On days when I just want to get the hell off this rock,
this song makes me weep,
and Rogue and The Cruxshadows make life a little more bearable.
I don’t know if Rogue and I
are kindred spirits or not,
but he and the wonderful people
who work with him sure make me feel less alone.
