Donald Trump's rise to power was paved with tragic misunderstanding and the resulting anger and frustration. Men refusing to see the patriarchy for what it was and men completely unaware of the patriarchy's existence found a fresh persona and accompanying political movement to reinforce their delusion. Their loyalty to Trump is unending because the fragility of their own masculinity is unending. As long as people like Trump continue to lie and assure them this isn't the case, though, they will never have to face the sobering truth that the problem isn't some external threat, but an internal defect.
The problem isn't immigrants seeking a better life.
The problem isn't minorities fighting for fairness.
The problem isn't women struggling for equal footing.
The problem has always been men trying to hold them down.
