Extra notes: I have completed the writing of The Failure of the Saeire Insu! I began it almost exactly three years ago. It is twenty-six chapters long not including the epilogue, which I wrote in its entirety today.
This is a sidestory to Melody and the Pier to Forever (click on the same-named tab once you've clicked through). It takes you away from the main story arc and characters, and immerses you in the story of a "side" or "secondary" character or characters. I despise thinking of them as "sides" or "secondary," and I don't treat them as such. Unfortunately there isn't an adequate term for them in that context, so I'm forced to use ones I dislike.
This character is named Ske T'Chel. He is mentioned many times in both the main story arc and in other sidestories, and gets his own novel here. He is a Kumiyaay Warrior, a member of the superelite XVI Angeli Magna Coronados. These are warriors trained in the aecxal martial art known as the Daen-Cer-Tain. They are trained to kill full-grown demons, and their skills are beyond any known on this world.
He is also a crewmember of the Rogue warship Failure. The name sounds unfortunate, but it isn't. Its captain is Josias Bodley Tiderider, who was given the king's blessing to name the ship he was commissioned to captain. He chose Failure. You'll have to read the book to find out why.
What is a "Rogue warship"? These are ships given free reign to sail the waters of Aquanus and cause all sorts of trouble. They are the advance ships, the free radicals, if you will. They are tied to no battle group. As such, the crews of such ships have to be the craziest, the meanest, the stubbornest sons of bitches in the fleet.
The story follows the Failure after it was given orders to find an Imperial warship by the name of Vorddra and capture its Dreamcatcher before he or she gets to Aquanicentra and Necrolius with secrets that could destroy the Saeire Insu. It's a wild ride on the high seas of Aquanus--and the high souls of the Failure's intrepid warriors.
I hope to get it released in no more than a year. I'll keep y'all posted. This has been a very difficult novel to write--in fact, the most difficult--which means the deep edits are going to be ... challenging.
But at least the writing of it is finished! Yay!
