Extra notes: All right. Here are my favorites for President, in current order of favor:

1. Elizabeth Warren
2. Pete Buttigieg
3. Beto O'Rourke
4. Kamala Harris

The truth is, this horse race is so close for me personally that any of those listed above would be just dandy if he or she won. They are all very strong, charismatic, intelligent, principled, and thoughtful people. Warren is my current favorite because she has come out of the gate with policies and ideas that the others simply haven't elucidated, or haven't elucidated to nearly the same degree or conviction. Warren is so strong at this point that the others may end up having to cherry-pick from her, which won't look good for them. The others are giving great stump speeches, yes. But they are, for the most part, little more than rah-rah rallies, with generalities. Warren is tirelessly going into specifics right now, months before the first primary. It's pretty astonishing.

But, like I indicated, it's also very early. This list may change over time. It almost certainly will.

As for the others--Cory Booker, Julian Castro, Bernie Sanders, and Joe Biden (who has yet to announce), as well as Amy Klobuchar and John Hickenlooper and the rest, I am less impressed. If one of them should win the Democratic nomination, yes, I will of course vote for them, even Bernie Sanders, who I don't like at all. (As for his followers--it goes from "don't like at all" to despise.)

Biden keeps winning the early "straw" polls around the country, but he is in my opinion the weakest Democrat out there. He is a centrist in a time when being a centrist is to skirt with being outright immoral.

I've seen it said more and more around the Internet-o-sphere: we need--we must have--a Second American Revolution if our nation--and our world--has even a slight chance to survive. When you look at what is happening in Washington right now, the situation is grave. Our government has been taken over by thugs, thieves, the sociopathic, and the depraved. It could not have happened at a worse time. We've got less than twelve years to put a stop to the worst that the global climate crisis can bring down on us; after that, it's lights-out. The monsters in power are doing everything to destroy the very institutions that can save us.

Postmodernism, as well as many other "trendy" and morally bankrupt philosophies and worldviews, are, in my opinion, largely to blame for much of what's happening now. There is no such thing as good and evil, those philosophies and worldviews proclaim; there is no such thing as objective morality; God does not exist; selfishness is a virtue; or, if you believe in the Christian God, Christianity has been wed perversely to materialism; thus Christ wants you to have a suburban castle and a Jaguar; he wants you to wear white undies and kick your gay kid into conversion therapy; he wants you to vote Republican and buy an AR-15 and keep an enemies' list. Cynicism, nihilism, herdism, indifference, and fakery rule the day. Decency has been clubbed like a baby seal and sold into slavery to a click-farm.

Justice no longer exists in the United States. That's bad news for the entire world, believe me. As for you Brits, Lord, do I pray for you. You're about to fuck yourselves utterly, and the world economy to boot. At the worst possible time for humanity, and the earth.

It is difficult not to fall into utter hopelessness right now. I think if you're anything even close to sane, that is a true statement for you, too. For anyone with a right mind and even a slightly functioning moral compass.

The rest of you, know this: we are not going to stop fighting. We are not going to give up, or give in. We are not going to compromise. If we have to, we'll kick your ass six ways to Sunday to get you in line, even if it means we break a few of our ankles to do it, and more than a few of your overfed, overprivileged, and overwhelmingly white asses. That's a promise.
