For my birthday, Kye re-upped Cobra Kai. I think this is something like the sixth watch-through. As with all great art, you pick something up with each new viewing. And yes, Cobra Kai is great art. It features superlative writing and acting, and the story is compelling and endearing. You need to pull your head out of your ass when someone says "This is great art," and you instantly picture the Mona Lisa or something. You're not in high school anymore. Wake up.
In this Newest Big Thing culture, few people bother re-watching a television show or re-reading a book or trying to expand their artistic tastes. All of that takes time, and the Newest Big Thing is waiting to be consumed and instantly forgotten about! My O My, what are you going to do?
The Newest Big Thing mindset is a facet of the disease known as suburbanism. So I totally understand how you can't get that Kye and I have watched Cobra Kai six times. You think we're the crazy, fucked-up ones.
Wrong. I'm afraid you are.
