Extra notes: First Man is awesome. Go see it.

It's intense and up-close-and-personal filmmaking. You aren't kept at arm's length from Neil Armstrong, but are right up in his grill experiencing all he did as he prepared for, and then went on the mission that took him and his shipmates to the moon.

It wasn't an easy haul for Armstrong by any stretch. What makes this movie even better is you get an up-close-and-personal view of it all by his wife as well, who was equally heroic in the end for all she put up with and sacrificed. The last scene of the film is haunting and will stay with me always. You'll understand when you see it.

Too, the score is haunting and should, with the film, earn an Academy Award.

Overall, a brilliant, brilliant bit of storytelling and filmmaking. You'd be a fool to miss it.

I'm off now to grab some groceries. Mild chores this weekend, nothing big. We're in a spell of bright, cloudless days and fairly high temperatures for this time of year. Forecast says it's gonna go on for a while. I'm more of a party sunny kind of guy. I like a good mix of both, and cooler temps.

I hope you have a good weekend.
