Pierwalker Log: May 9, 2018

Writing start: 9:51 A.M.
Finish: 2:15 P.M.
Total new words (est.): 1400
Edited (est.): 5400

1. Failure: Special read-through (Ch.11)
Notes: A second align edit. Smoother.

2. Book Three Melody: 300 new words
Notes: Still searching for a chapter ending. I'll do a read-through in a few days here and see if I can spy anything. I'm pretty sure this chapter is going to come in at or a little above 7K words. Pretty big.

3. Watson: 700 new words
Notes: Chapter eight is finished! I'll start the primary edits in a few days!

4. Love Story: Off

5. Ant story: 400 new words
Notes: Chapter one is finished! I'll begin the primary edits in a few days!

6. Dread Pirate Roberts (2): Off

7. The Candle: Book edit ch.5
Notes: The first truly decent read of this already-edited-dozens-of-times manuscript. Lord.

8. T-Bag: Off till Saturday or Monday

Extra notes: The dickhead who owns this trailer park likes to harm birds and other creatures, especially swallows, which migrate up here every year. They take up residence under roofs and generally make a mess with their droppings, but are in every other way harmless. A tiny percentage of them carry illness and disease, which is always the rationale people use when they go to exterminate them.

The problem is, killing or harming these birds is very much against the law.

Which of course does not stop bullies like the owner.

I'm a member of PETA--People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. I have reported this jerk multiple times to them. But there is little else that can be done.

Yesterday one of the poor creatures got trapped in a vent grate that this butthead purposely put up to stop swallows from nesting in the vent, as two already were. I rescued him or her, but couldn't look inside to see if the nest had eggs or little ones. It's heartbreaking knowing that if so, they will soon starve to death.

Which is why I didn't sleep much at all last night. I got through my tasks today in a fatigued haze.

Later this afternoon I'll go and check on the swallows that doofuslick has been trying to harm. Maybe I'll sleep tonight. I don't know. The cruelty of people never ceases to astound and outrage me.

Tomorrow I have a doctor's appointment. I think I'll take the rest of that day off. Friday is off too, as is normally the case. I may let the momentum of aaaaaaah carry me through Saturday, normally a workday, and then through Sunday, which is a normally scheduled day off. Which means I won't, in all likelihood, get back to my work until Monday.

I have really pushed myself the past year, and rarely take breaks like this. I think this one may be needed.

Or not. We'll see. It'll be, as they say in football, a "game-time decision."
